Advantages of Chickens for Ocular Disease Research

Animal models are critical to the study of vision for many ocular diseases and conditions, including retinal detachment, retinal degeneration, glaucoma, and corneal damage. Currently, a variety of species including non-human primates, rodents, felines, and certain bird species are being used for ocular research purposes.
