In Vivo Efficacy Testing of IBD Drugs
Once a potential drug candidate has demonstrated its efficacy through a series of in vitro tests, it can be tested in vivo. In vivo efficacy studies are a core component of breakthrough drug development, and animal models of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) provide a critical pathway to successful drug discovery. The results of in vivo efficacy studies are often used as a threshold criterion for determining whether a therapeutic candidate will progress through the drug development process.
