What are Diabetes Complications?

Vasculopathy develops over time in the tissues and organs of patients with DM, commonly including the heart, brain, kidneys, retina, foot, and nerves. These changes give rise to their respective chronic complications. The most common chronic complications considered as related to diabetes include microvascular disease and macrovascular diseases. Extensive epidemiological studies have consistently demonstrated that the duration of diabetes is positively related to the development of complications.
