In Vivo Modeling of Diabetic Neuropathy

In Vivo Modeling of Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetes neuropathy is one of the most serious diabetes complications, and its increase shows no sign of stopping. At Ace Therapeutics, we can establish a suite of state-of-the-art preclinical models that closely mimic the complexities of diabetic neuropathy, enabling our clients to make significant strides in their research.

Overview of Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetic neuropathy is a debilitating complication for many people afflicted with the disease. This is an intricate neurological malady with manifestations ranging from generalized symmetric polyneuropathies to focal and multifocal neuropathies.
The pathogenesis of DN is multifactorial, with hyperglycemia having been fully established as contributing to this condition. Moreover, advanced age, obesity, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension are other contributing risk factors. Complex and interrelated processes involving the accumulation of AGEs, activation of the polyol pathway, neuroinflammation, and oxidative stress instigate the development and progression of DN. Despite intensive research, the precise mechanisms have not been fully established.

Our Diabetic Neuropathy Modeling Services

Our broad portfolio of models is designed to recapitulate the diverse manifestations of DN, from streptozotocin-induced hyperglycemia to dietary-induced obesity and metabolic syndrome, by employing an extensive array of approaches. Besides, our customizable models allow researchers to investigate how different specific risk factors contribute to the emergence and further development of neuropathic symptoms. We offer professional scientific services and technical support to help clients establish various DN animal models.

  • Streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats
  • Spontaneously diabetic WBN/Kob rats
  • L-fucose-induced neuropathic rats
  • Surgically-induced neuropathic rats
  • Genetically modified Spontaneously Diabetic Torii (SDT) rat models
  • Nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice
  • Leptin-deficient (ob/ob) mice
  • Genetically modified / high-fat diet-fed C57BL/Ks (db/db) mice
  • streptozotocin-induced C57BL6/J and ddY mice
  • Chinese hamster neuropathic model

Our Services for Diabetic Neuropathy Research

Through the integration of electrophysiological assessments, blood flow imaging, biomarker analyses, and other advanced analytical methods, we empower our clients to delve deeper into the pathological processes driving this debilitating condition. Our contract research services for DN animal models include:

  • Measurement of Body weight and fasting blood glucose
  • Measurement of impaired glucose tolerance (IGT)
  • Assessment of thermal sensitivity (tail-flick, hind paw withdrawal tests, and Von Frey filaments)
  • Assessment of motor and sensory nerve conduction velocity (NCV)
  • Assessment of intraepidermal nerve fiber density (IENFD) and/or myelinated fiber density
  • Examination of inflammatory infiltrates, oxidative and nitrosative stress, and impaired angiogenesis within peripheral nerve tissue (immunohistochemistry)
  • Measurement of glycated hemoglobin and plasma insulin
  • Lipid analysis of plasma cholesterol and triglycerides
  • Determination of the ratios of cholesterol and triglycerides to lipoproteins (fast protein liquid chromatography analysis)

At Ace Therapeutics, we are committed to driving translational success in the field of DN research. If you are interested in how our services can be customized to meet your exact needs, please contact us. Our team of seasoned experts is ready to partner with you, every step of the way.
