Description Crystal Violet is a cation dye that is used in Gram staining to distinguish between gram-positive and negative bacteria, causing color changes from yellow (pH0.0) to blue/violet (pH2.0). The compound is also used to measure Cytostatic/cytotoxic effects on tumor cell lines.
