Collagens

Collagen is the main component of connective tissue and is abundant in mammals. It is the most widely used extracellular matrix in 3D cell culture to promote cell attachment, growth, differentiation, migration and tissue morphogenesis.

In the 3D BBB model, collagen is used as the main component of the cell culture matrix to provide a support and attachment matrix for cells, thus supporting the simulation study of complex cell interactions and biological processes.

The 3D BBB model is a three-dimensional cell culture model that simulates the blood-brain barrier and is used to study related neurobiology and drug delivery issues. In order to reproduce real physiological conditions, the 3D BBB model uses a collagen matrix to culture brain vascular endothelial cells and other related cells to form a microenvironment with blood-brain barrier function. Collagen plays different roles when creating a three-dimensional blood-brain barrier (BBB) model culture matrix.
