Non-human primate (NHP) models are particularly attractive for their remarkable anatomical, developmental, physiological, social, and genetic similarities to humans. This greatly increases the opportunities for successful clinical translation in ophthalmology. As one of the few global experts in ocular disease models and non-human primate models, Ace Therapeutics is pleased to advance your pipeline with our extensive expertise and experience. With our extensive information on models for each ocular disease, our talented scientists can help you choose the most appropriate model and assay to meet the specific needs of a particular compound or discovery program.
According to incomplete statistics, about 900 million people suffer from visual impairment around the world. Glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy (DR), high myopia, and cataracts are the most common ocular diseases that cause irreversible blindness worldwide. To elucidate the pathogenesis of these ocular diseases, it is essential to develop animal models that mimic the biological mechanisms of human disease ocular diseases to study the disease process. In various animal models, non-human primate (NHP) is considered an attractive model, and its advantages for vision research are as follows: 1) Unlike small animals such as mice, NHP has eye structures more similar to humans, such as the macula structure and vitreous volume. 2) Rhesus monkeys have more than 90% DNA sequences and highly conserved protein sequences with humans and have great similarities in anatomy, physiology, and genetics. 3) Using invasive methods and novel treatments in NHP research may complement studies in human volunteers and patients. 4) Availability and similarity of instruments for ocular phenotyping. These advantages determine that NHP can provide precise and conclusive data for preclinical research on human visual biology and ocular diseases, thereby ensuring a higher success rate of clinical research.

Ace Therapeutics, one of the world's leading leaders in ocular disease modeling, is one of the professional organizations in non-human primate (NHP) models. We want to help you accelerate the journey of your pipeline discovery with our NHP models. Here, we look forward to working with you to explore promising therapies for improving the life quality of ocular patients.
Our NHP models are crucial key tools in your preclinical research, dramatically improving your understanding of many eye diseases and giving you greater insight into the appropriate ways to develop vision restoration. We are proud that our NHP models have been extensively experimentally validated to characterize and mimic the physiopathological mechanisms underlying human ocular disease development.
Additionally, our NHP research center will provide you with comprehensive ocular toxicology studies. In recent years, our talented scientists have helped our partners conduct multiple toxicology and safety assessment studies in NHP models with promising results.
