At Ace Therapeutics, our team of experienced experts is dedicated to the development of hypertonic saline-induced glaucoma models. Our services are designed to support your glaucoma research, whether you are exploring the pathophysiology of glaucoma or evaluating candidate drugs.
Introduction to Hypertonic Saline-Induced Glaucoma Models
Injection of hypertonic saline via episcleral veins is a widely used approach to induce ocular hypertension (OHT) in rodents and has been successfully used by many researchers. By injecting hypertonic saline into the episcleral veins, rat models exhibit sustained elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP), which causes pathological changes in the rat retina, optic nerve head (ONH), and optic nerve (ON) similar to those described in human glaucoma. Therefore, hypertonic saline-induced models are useful tools for glaucoma research.
Fig. 1 Glaucoma was induced in adult SD rats by single injection of 50 μL hypertonic saline solution (1.75M NaCl) into the superior episcleral vein. (Lambiase A, et al., 2009)
Explore Our Hypertonic Saline-Induced Glaucoma Models
Ace Therapeutics provides comprehensive services centered around our hypertonic saline-induced glaucoma models, including model development and comprehensive preclinical assessments. We aim to provide our clients with a reliable and versatile platform.
Development of Hypertonic Saline-Induced Glaucoma Models
We can develop hypertonic saline-induced glaucoma models across multiple animal species, and provide tailored hypertonic saline concentrations and injection frequencies to match your study objectives.
Animal Species | Advantages | Service Contents |
---|---|---|
Rodents (rats, mice) | Affordable. Easy to manage. |
|
Rabbits | Large eyes. Vascular anatomy and aqueous humor outflow pathways similar to humans. |
|
Non-human primates | Closely resemble human glaucoma in terms of anatomy and physiology. |
Hypertonic Saline-Induced Glaucoma Model Evaluation Services
Our evaluation services are designed to provide in-depth analysis and evaluation of the glaucoma models.
- IOP monitoring
- Optic nerve evaluation
- Analysis of histological and immunohistochemical characteristics of glaucoma
- Assessment of visual function
Ace Therapeutics provides comprehensive solutions for glaucoma research. From model development to endpoint analysis, we provide end-to-end support to ensure robust results.
