As a trusted contract service provider, Ace Therapeutics is committed to developing and validating reliable preclinical glaucoma models. Our custom circumlimbal suture-induced glaucoma models offer a reliable, reproducible, and minimally invasive solution to study chronic intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation and its impact on retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration.
Introduction to Circumlimbal Suture-Induced Glaucoma Models
Traditional animal models of glaucoma face challenges such as inflammation, trauma, or media opacity that can confound results. The circumlimbal suture model addresses these limitations by inducing sustained IOP elevation through a non-penetrating "purse-string" suture around the equator of the eyeball. This method avoids globe penetration, preserves optical media clarity, and allows longitudinal monitoring of retinal structure and function, making it ideal for studying chronic ocular hypertension and therapeutic interventions.
