Ace Therapeutics offers oxidase or peroxidase activity assay services. Based on our team of experienced scientists and well-designed anti-psychotic drug development platform, we can successfully help researchers achieve their research goals. We can save you time and money compared to trying it on your own.
Monoamine oxidase (MAO) is an enzyme involved in the degradation of various monoamine neurotransmitters and neuromodulators and thus plays a role in a variety of psychiatric disorders and pathological behaviors. Platelet MAO-B activity is associated with psychiatric and aggression-related personality traits, and variants in the MAO-A and MAO-B genes have been associated with a variety of clinical phenotypes, including aggression, antisocial problems, and violent crime. In addition, pharmacotherapy studies in patients with mixed anxiety depression and first-episode schizophrenia suggest that platelet monoamine oxidase activity may serve as a potential biomarker for the efficacy of therapeutic interventions in these disorders.

Ace Therapeutics offers a variety of assays to measure the activity levels of oxidases and peroxidases. MAO exists as two isoforms, MAO-A and MAO-B, which are differentiated based on localization, substrate affinity and inhibitor specificity. Our monoamine oxidase assay kit measures MAO-A and MAO-B in biological samples. MAO reacts with the substrate to produce hydrogen peroxide. The signal generated by the reaction between hydrogen peroxide and the probe is proportional to the level of MAO in the sample and can be detected by colorimetric or fluorometric methods. The MAO activity in an unknown sample is calculated based on the hydrogen peroxide standard curve. In addition, we offer peroxidase/hydrogen peroxide assays, myeloperoxidase chloride activity assays, and polyamine oxidase assays. We are committed to helping you help you study the relationship between oxidase or peroxidase dysfunction and psychiatric disorders such as depression, substance abuse and schizophrenia.
