Lipidomics-Based Ocular Biomarker Discovery and Analysis Services

Lipidomics-Based Ocular Biomarker Discovery and Analysis Services

Ace Therapeutics is a company that has been focusing on the field of ophthalmology and provides a large number of outsourcing services related to ocular biomarkers. Our scientists use reverse phase high resolution mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) or direct infusion mass spectrometry (DI-MS) to help customers better screen ocular lipidomic biomarkers and advance research projects.

About Ocular Lipidomics

Lipidomics is an emerging and promising field that analyzes different lipid molecules in biological samples. It is considered a branch of metabolomics and is defined as the comprehensive analysis of metabolites in biological samples. Lipids play critical roles in many physiological pathways and can serve as biomarkers of disease or as therapeutic targets to treat disease. The main lipidomics strategies are shotgun lipidomics and liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. In ophthalmology, a growing number of studies have used lipidomics to analyze potential biomarkers such as lipid mediators that regulate ocular inflammatory responses and tissues (arachidonic acid, eicosapentaene, acid and docosahexaenoic acid, prostaglandins, leukotrienes and hydroxy fatty acids, etc.), lipid mediators in the tear film (cholesterol esters, wax esters, triacylglycerides, diacylglyceride, etc.). In this case, based on lipidomics research enables better understanding of ocular diseases and development of novel biomarkers for early detection and diagnosis, treatment, progression and prognosis.
