Primary Adult Rat Optic Nerve Head Astrocytes

Primary Adult Rat Optic Nerve Head Astrocytes Inquiry

GM-01

Optic nerve head remodeling is usually the earliest manifestation of glaucoma, which then gradually leads to optic nerve axon damage and death of RGCs. Optic nerve head astrocytes (ONHAs) are the main cell type of the optic nerve head and they provide structural and nutritional support for the optic nerve. Therefore, targeting ONHAs is a novel strategy for developing glaucoma drugs.
