Description | Phospho-Insulin Receptor (Y1189) ELISA Kit is a very rapid, convenient and sensitive assay kit that can monitor the activation or function of important biological pathways in human cell lysates. By determining phosphorylated Insulin Receptor protein in your experimental model system, you can verify pathway activation in your cell lysates. You can simultaneously measure numerous different cell lysates without spending excess time and effort in performing a Western Blotting analysis. This Sandwich ELISA kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the measurement of human phospho-Insulin Receptor. An anti-pan Insulin Receptor antibody has been coated onto a 96-well plate. Samples are pipetted into the wells and Insulin Receptor present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and rabbit anti-phospho-Insulin Receptor (Y1189) antibody is used to detect phosphorylated Insulin Receptor. After washing away unbound antibody, HRP conjugated anti-rabbit IgG is pipetted into the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Insulin Receptor (Y1189) bound. |

Target Description | Receptor tyrosine kinase which mediates the pleiotropic actions of insulin. Binding of insulin leads to phosphorylation of several intracellular substrates, including, insulin receptor substrates. Isoform Short has a higher affinity for IGFII binding. When present in a hybrid receptor with IGF1R, binds IGF1. Itshows that hybrid receptors composed of IGF1R and INSR isoform Long are activated with a high affinity by IGF1, with low affinity by IGF2 and not significantly activated by insulin, and that hybrid receptors composed of IGF1R and INSR isoform Short are activated by IGF1, IGF2 and insulin. In contrast, itshows that hybrid receptors composed of IGF1R and INSR isoform Long and hybrid receptors composed of IGF1R and INSR isoform Short have similar binding characteristics, both bind IGF1 and have a low affinity for insulin. |
