Cell Lines & Lysates

Although diabetes is fundamentally a genetic disease, environmental factors and behaviors also play significant roles. The result is insulin resistance in the body, and pancreatic islet cells unable to secrete enough insulin to compensate. The pancreatic cells, particularly the insulin-secreting islet β cells are important for diabetes research.

Ace Therapeutics can provide cell related products of diabetes to accelerate customer research progress. Whether your group is looking to screen compounds to identify a lead candidate or dive deeper into mechanism-of-action studies, our cell lines are useful tools.

Overview of Diabetes

In T1DM, the β-cells in patients have been damaged and clinically manifested as insulin secretion disorder, increased blood sugar and ketosis tendency. In T2DM, the pancreas does not make enough insulin to keep blood glucose levels normal. And it is characterized by high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and relative lack of insulin.

Cell lines can be applied to drug metabolism analysis, molecular pharmacology research and pharmacodynamic evaluation of cell function, receptor and cell factor interactions, and other research fields. Metabolixis provides the most widely used insulin-secreting cell lines are RIN, HIT, beta TC, MIN6 and INS-1 cells. These cells contain mainly insulin and small amounts of glucagon and somatostatin.
